Greek art always tried to find the perfect beauty. Art was understood just as an empirical process. They couldn't construct just a beautiful building, it had to seem beautiful for the human eye. That's why they had to include some optical corrections that the human eye cannot do by itself.
Maybe that's the reason why it is so difficult to find the beauty in life some days.
